Medea: Shot and Stained
by Christine Bayeux
Anger is the daughter of pain, thoughtful Medea
Your fate, determined by Aphrodite,
executed by Eros her son, capable as offspring of
the goddess, love made her sport and
by her decree, you loved Jason, only for his acts,
life becomes a nightmare, only it is real
your enemies laugh behind your back, a
pain deeper than infidelity,
being chastised, scorned red
the blood of your children, no longer blue
forced out of their young bodies,
onto your hands, soiled with genocide.
