just gettin by.
just gettin by is a painting of an old arraber (pronounced ay-rabber) from baltimore. when i was a kid i remember horse drawn carts loaded with fruits & vegetables goin up & down the streets & alleys. you could here the arrabers calls from inside the house, "WATERMELON, CANTELOPE!!!" in deep, long drawn out wails. Then you'd come runnin to the door and down the steps to see all that he had on his cart. i had this memory recently and after a little searchin i found some photos to work with. i also found out recently that my gransfathers brother-in-law was an arraber. this is the first in a series.
